We recently decided that we were going to give our guest bedroom a little makeover. We didn’t want to go too crazy or do anything that was too expensive, we just wanted to give it a little refresh, so here is how our guest bedroom makeover on a budget turned out.
Accent Walls
When we originally started this project, we just wanted to do a dark accent wall behind the bed. We were thinking of black but instead went with really dark green. The exact color we used is Jasper by Sherwin Williams in an eggshell finish.
We ended up adding another accent wall area where we hung the TV. It is called a slat wall and was super easy, budget-friendly, and tied the whole room together. It is honestly one of my favorite spots in the room! We painted the section of the wall where we wanted the slat wall to be. After that, we used 1x2s, a nail gun, and the stain color Provincial by Minwax to complete the wall.
Decor
As far as decor, I wanted to try to utilize as much of the decor that we already had because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on this project. I also wanted to try to find a way to make the mounted deer more aesthetically pleasing. LOL And the final goal we wanted to achieve was to make it more functional for our friends or family when they house sit and dog sit for us.
The biggest request that we had was a lamp and a place to put their clothes while they are here. So we found some really cute gold sconces off Amazon. The sconces mounted to the wall and plugged in with a switch to turn them off and on. This made it where we didn’t have to do any form of electrical work and overall just made it super easy. And as far as a place to put their clothes, we purchased an industrial-looking clothing rack that mounts to the wall. We also purchased a full-length mirror and bench for them to be able to put their other things on. Lastly, we used a gold vintage frame that we had from our wedding and placed the deer in the center of the frame.
