Teeth whitening can be a very overwhelming experience. There have always been so many different myths that float around about it. And honestly, up until this point, I had always been pretty scared of the more advanced teeth whitening systems. When Smile Brilliant reached out and offered to let me try a kit, I was nervous and excited all at once. So here is the tea on everything you need to know about the whole teeth whitening process.
When you use the Smile Brilliant system, the process is so simple! Their kit comes with literally everything you need. Here is exactly what is included in the kit:
- 3 Catalyst and 3 Base Paste
- 2 Upper and Lower Plastic Trays
- 4 Syringes of Teeth Whitening Gel
- 4 Syringes of Desensitizing Gel
- Step-by-step instructions for making your impressions
- An envelope to mail your impressions back to the lab
- Step-by-step instructions for the teeth whitening and desensitizing process.
From start to finish, it was so easy and straightforward. The most intimidating part was making your impressions. Which actually turned out to be a piece of cake. Prior to this, the only teeth whitening I had every used was Crest 3D White Strips and forms of teeth whitening toothpaste, so I am definitely classified as a beginner.
Once you make your impressions you place them in the envelope that was provided and put them in the mail to send them off to the lab. Within about a week I received my whitening trays back. It is an extremely fast turn around and the trays literally fit like a glove. I was so impressed by them! After you get your trays, you are ready to start whitening. Each syringe of teeth whitening gel and desensitizing gel last for about 4-5 whitening sessions. So, the 4 syringes of each should last you 20 sessions which is amazing! The desensitizing gel is a thinner consistency than the whitening gel so it does come out a little quicker, so beware of that.
They recommend you need to start out with 45 minutes of whitening and work your way up to longer increments. The longest it recommends to go is 3 hours. You always want to use the desensitizing gel after you whiten to help ensure your teeth don’t become sensitive. Tooth sensitivity is common with any form of teeth whitening out on the market because it is caused by tooth dehydration.
It’s important to remember our teeth are like sponges and are always soaking in what we are eating and drinking. For that reason, they always require maintenance. They recommend not eating or drinking anything for a few hours after you whiten because it could increase the chance of re-staining. Since our teeth are like sponges, they have pores that open when you whiten and those pores remain open for up to 48 hours after you whiten. I chose to whiten after dinner/ before bed that way I wasn’t tempted to eat anything and my teeth had time to do their thing overnight.
My teeth were already fairly white, but I am a coffee drinking connoisseur, so there were definitely some tooth stains that needed some help. You can see that it was able to remove some of the stains that were beginning to happen in between my teeth which is INSANELY impressive. Smile Brilliant was able to get my teeth to their whitest potential. And who doesn’t want that? I mean is there such thing as having too white of teeth? No, I didn’t think so!
The Smile Brilliant team was so helpful throughout the whole process and they are extremely knowledgeable about teeth and the teeth whitening process. They have tons of tips and tricks to help you if you do experience sensitivity or have questions about anything. I mean how amazing is it that you get top-notch customer service with an excellent tooth whitening product.
