3 Ways to Style a Leather Jacket

I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were discussing the phycology of dressing well. It turns out that there is some truth to “Dress for the job you want and not the job you have.” The way you dress can actually impact your day-to-day life by affecting your mood and the confidence you have for the day. They also discussed the topic of updating your wardrobe. Which can be a really daunting and overwhelming subject. Like anything, you just have to start with the basics. Incorporate pieces that are very versatile, and can be worn in many different ways, occasions and seasons. One of those pieces is a good leather jacket. There are so many options, but here are 3 ways to style a leather jacket to get you started.

Casual Cool Leather Jacket Look

The first look is a cute everyday look and is probably my favorite way to style a leather jacket. It is great for just about any occasion. It is casual enough to wear around town but is still dressed up enough to carry over into dinner with your girlfriends.

I always look for comfort in my clothing. If a piece is uncomfortable and I will be tugging at it all the time it is a “no go” for me. In the case of a leather jacket, you want to make sure that you have plenty of room to move in your shoulder area. If it feels too tight or uncomfortable, try sizing up one. I also look for comfort in my shoes, because there is absolutely no way I can perform well at anything if I can’t take my mind off of how bad my feet hurt and how I can barely walk. These booties literally go with everything. They have a low enough heal that they are comfortable for everyday/ all-day wear. They are a good shoe to invest in for updating your wardrobe.

Look two is the ultimate running around town and getting things done outfit. A pair of sneaks and faux leather leggings give it the right amount of style while remaining super comfy. During the winter months, you can layer up with a sweater and scarf. And during the warmer months when you need fewer layers, you can ditch the scarf and just do an oversized tee. You could also throw on some booties to take this look from casual day to grabbing dinner at night. I definitely recommend investing in some faux leather leggings to add to your wardrobe. They are another versatile piece that can be worn soo many ways. Plus, when you are wearing them with a casual outfit they just help to make you look more put together. You know, like you actually tried even though they are leggings. 😉

Dressed Up Leather Jacket

The final way I styled a leather jacket is a more dressed up look. This look is great for date night, weddings, concerts, work-related events, etc. It is such a cute dressed up sassy number. The satin mock neck top is honestly something I have had in my closet forever. I have worn it for countless interviews. You can pair it with just about any skirt to look professional. You could also pair it with some high waisted flares for another cute look. These boots are my go-to boots for any occasion. I have walked so many miles in these puppies! I love them so much and there really isn’t much that they don’t go with.

There are definitely plenty of ways you can style a leather jacket. Throw it over a dress or pair it with a midi skirt. The possibilities are endless. One thing I always tell people is that “It is their style, own it! If they love it and it makes them feel good, wear it!”
