Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole

The first blog post of the new year, we might as well make it a big one that is long overdue! This is everything you need to know about visiting the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Literally everything, everywhere we ate and everything we did, and some of my favorite views I have ever seen.

Where To Stay In Jackson Hole

There are a ton of great places to stay in Jackson Hole. Some of them can get pretty pricey but don’t let that steer you away, they have budget-friendly options too. Most of the hotels are within walking distance of the town square which makes it super easy to shop and eat. We used our reward points and stayed at the Marriott, but if you are looking for something more unique The Anvil Hotel is another one we looked at. It is a renovated boutique hotel, that is steps away from the square and is so cute with such a cool vibe. Another option that we looked at was The Continuum Hotel. The Continuum is located in Teton Village so it is not steps away from the town square, but it is steps away from the ariel tram. They are both pretty affordable options and super unique places that when we go back we will definitely be checking out.

Breakfast In Jackson Hole

Cafe Genevieve – This place is a must for breakfast! The candied bacon and the biscuits with the cajun gravy are absolutely phenomenal! We almost went back a second day for breakfast here, but there were so many other places we wanted to try.

Persephone Bakery – This is another great place for breakfast! It is such a cute little bakery/cafe! They have yummy lattes and pastries. They also have heavier full breakfast items like french toast and yogurt bowls.

Cowboy Coffee – This is a great option for a quick breakfast and a quick coffee. There wasn’t anything too fancy about it but it was quick and easy and good.

Inversion – Inversion Cafe is part of a yoga studio, but they recently opened up the cafe portion. If you are looking for something really clean and healthy this is your go-to place. They had these amazing gluten-free muffins and had TONS of other healthy options.

Lunch in Jackson Hole

Hatch Taqueria and Tequilas – I am a sucker for tacos and margaritas so naturally, I had to check this place out. I can confirm that the tacos and margaritas are delicious. I also highly recommend the queso fundido. It was absolutely amazing!!!

Hand Fire Pizza – I am also a sucker for some brick oven pizzas and Hand Fire Pizza delivered. I love that they have unique takes on traditional pizza flavors. We got the “Apple of My Pie” which is a bbq pizza with apples on it and it was so yummy!

Dinner In Jackson Hole

The Gun Barrel Steak and Game House – The Gun Barrell is a great dinner option, especially if you are wanting something that fits the vibe of Jackson Hole. If you have never gotten a chance to try different game like elk and bison, this is a great place to do it. I went with the Pan Seared Elk Pops and the huckleberry reduction made it so delicious.

Local – Local is a great dinner option and is a little fancier than all the other ones on the list. I got the Chef’s Burger and it was hands down the best burger I have ever had in my life. I know I sound crazy going to a fancy restaurant and getting a burger but there was so much flavor in that burger. Just trust me, it was amazing!

The Millions Dollar Cowboy Bar – This iconic spot is hands down a must! The cowboy bar is a great place to listen to some live country music and grab a few drinks to end your night.

Things To Do When Visiting The Grand Tetons

Horseback Riding

This was hands down one of my favorite parts of the trip! I have always LOVED horses so any excuse to hang out with them I take. We booked our ride with Teton Village Trail Rides. They are located in the Teton Village so it gave us a chance to check out that area as well. Depending on the time of the year a lot of the places that offer trail rides start closing down due to the weather. We were lucky enough to get there the last week before they closed for the season. It was a pretty wet ride and we had to cut it short because the mountain was too slick but it was still an awesome experience.

Hiking at Grand Teton National Park

There are a ton of good hikes to do in The Grand Tetons National Park but two of our favorites are Delta Lake and the Hidden Falls hike from Stringlake. Delta Lake had some of the most stunning views of mountains and turquoise blue water. I will say that this hike is TOUGH! It is about 8 miles total with 2,247 in elevation change. The last mile gets really steep and is hiking across boulders. I was definitely questioning if the views would be worth it but they 100% are. If you are looking for a more mild hike, I highly recommend the hike to Hidden Falls from String Lake. It is 4 miles roundtrip and is relatively flat, but the views are literally like something out of a Bass Pro Shops catalog. You will be stopping around every corner to snap pictures.

Watch the Wildlife

There is so much wildlife to see around Grand Tetons National Park. We spotted everything from antelope, elk, moose, and buffalo almost daily. At Oxbow Bend overlook you can spot tons of waterfowl. It was so neat getting to stop and slow down and watch all the animals for a little while.

Mormon Row

Mormon Row is an iconic part of the park and is a must-see for sure. It is home to the famous Moulton barns as well as the historic Mormon row. It is a quick and easy stop and a great way to learn some of the histories of the area.

Go shopping

Of course, there is always hitting the Jackson Hole town square and doing some shopping. There are tons of cool shops some of them are unique to the area and others are familiar ones we all know and love. But it is definitely worth walking around the square and taking in its beauty and exploring the shops.

Yellowstone National Park

If time permits, I highly recommend a trip to Yellowstone National Park. The south entrance of Yellowstone will be the closest entrance to Jackson Hole. This is another one that you definitely want to pick the right time of year to visit. If you go in the winter you can only get around by snowmobile so you will be pretty limited. And if you go around the time we went (October) you run the risk of some snowy weather and road closers. Yellowstone is also a VERY large National Park so you want to make sure you have PLENTY of time to explore.

There are so many breathtaking views to take in between the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. It is definitely one of my favorites that we have gotten to see. I find myself missing those views all the time. Hopefully, this can help you plan your trip to see some of these beautiful views for yourself.
