One of the most relaxing stops of our Utah Road Trip is the Mystic Hot Springs. This place was in the middle of nowhere and there isn’t much to it. But I love the simplicity of this cute little town and getting to see these calcified formations.
Mystic Hot Springs Location
The Mystic Hot Springs is located in Monroe, Utah. Which is a cute little rural town in Utah where kids ride their ATVs to school and businesses are closed on Sunday. The hot springs are located on the side of town that is closest to Richfield, Utah. They are at the end of a dead-end road so if you feel like you are lost you are probably in the right spot. There will be a house and a sign in front of it that says Mystic Hot Springs as well as signs with directions. The springs are located just behind the house.
When you walk up to the house you will notice some steps to the right of the house. There will be a sign pointing you up the hill and behind the house. The first set of springs you approach are the big soaking areas with the iconic arch. If you go further up the hill you will find all the different iconic bathtubs. The water in the bathtubs is warmer than the water in the larger soaking area. The tubs also have views of the mountains, so this is where we spent most of our time. It is so incredibly relaxing just sitting there taking in the views!
Price and Accommadations
Over the years, the springs have gained some attention bringing in more tourists. There is not a lot of places to stay in Monroe so the owner of the springs came up with a solution. He has turned the Mystic Hot Springs into a mini rustic hippie resort getaway. Whether you are passing through to stop for a dip or if you are wishing to stay the night they can accommodate you. The hot springs have different types of accommodations from old hippy buses, tiny rustic cabins, and actual camping spots.
As I mentioned earlier, they have gained a lot of attention amongst tourists so they now require you to book times to soak in the hot springs. The passes are $25 a person and they block out the time slots in 2-hour increments. The 2 hours slots are plenty of time to soak. Part of the reason they started doing this is to make sure it isn’t too packed and you are getting to enjoy the springs and relax.
They do have bathrooms in front of the house by where you park. You will want to make sure you bring a towel and change of clothes if you are stopping for a quick soak. Also, as I mentioned before, it is a pretty small town so food options are limited so plan accordingly.
If you are on a Utah road trip and looking for a place to stretch your legs and relax, this is definitely a great spot to do it. It is a great option to help break up some of the driving that comes with a road trip.
