Guide To Zion National Park

Zion National Park is a MUST see! Just go ahead and add it to your bucket list if it isn’t already on it. It is nestled in this cute little mountain town that has such a cool vibe. There is so much to see and do that you could literally spend a full week there experiencing it all. So here is a guide to Zion National Park to try to help you plan your trip.

Where to Stay:

We stayed at Zion Wildflower Resort and fell in LOVE with it. It is a glamping resort with multiple accommodation options. They have covered wagons, tents, and bungalows. We opted for the bungalow and it was seriously the cutest. The resort is about a 15-minute drive from Springdale where the park is located. It includes a courtyard area that has lounge seating, baggo (or cornhole whichever you call it), grills, a fire pit, yard Jenga, hammocks, and more. There is also a mile trail that you can hike in your free time while you stay. And to top it off, you have some amazing views! They have literally thought of everything!

What to Do and See:

There are so many trails to hike, activities to do, and views to see at Zion National Park. My must-do hikes are Angel’s Landing and the Narrows. I recommend going to the national park website and planning your hikes out so you know how long each one takes or how strenuous they are.

Angel’s Landing is about 2.5 miles but is a pretty strenuous hike up with some steep elevation gains. Once you get to the top you can enjoy some stunning views or you can continue onto the chained portion if you are brave enough. I am not someone who is included in that category HAHA. Being near the edges was terrifying to me. Something to note, while we were there, the chained portion was closed due to Coronavirus, but you can still have an amazing experience without doing that part.

The Narrows is a 10-mile hike through a canyon with the Virgin River flowing through. You definitely do not have to do the whole hike, we didn’t. I highly recommend renting some of the hiking boots they have and the walking sticks. We were hiking it in our Chacos and Tevas and it was very difficult. The rocks can be pretty slippery making it hard to balance. The Narrows get pretty packed by midday so you may want to plan to get there early.

Some other actives that you can do other than hiking would be to rent some e-bikes, go horseback riding, check out some of the shops and simply go on a scenic drive through the park. Some things to note are if you are purchasing a bus pass it is a $1 per person and times fill up pretty quickly. The pass does last all day so you can hop around from trail to trail. The next thing is if you are wanting to do a scenic drive through the park it is $35 per car, but the pass is good for the week so you can enter as many times as you want.

Where to Eat:

There are TONS of options for eating. They are all located right outside the park on the main road. Here were some of our favorites:

Deep Creek Coffee Co. – We stopped here for breakfast and it was so YUMMY! They have a variety of items on the menu. The boys got breakfast burritos and we girls got smoothies and split a bagel sandwich.

Meme’s Cafe – This was another spot that we went to for breakfast. They had the most delicious crepes. They even had a gluten-free option and a vegan option.

Whiptail Grill – We visited Whiptail Grill for lunch but it would also be a good dinner spot too. They offer some really yummy gourmet Mexican food with a southwest flair.
